The word 'Mythology' itself is formulated from the word 'myth'. But for our Indian mythology, it is better to name it faith, lessons, history and tales. We frequently hear in our Indian culture about the sovereignty of God and the battles between demons and deities.

Usually, we misguided these as tales but these are the actual life lessons that can lead us to a successful and happy life. The battle between God and the devil now can be illustrated as the war between your good and bad habits. Our ancestors are so smart that they convey life lessons in tales.

Now in this modern epoch where it's tough to understand ancient perspectives, many brilliant Indian writers transmute those complex and powerful lessons into a simpler and perspicuous manner by retelling mythology in their books.

Here is a list of a few of our extraordinary mythology writers:

(There is no specific sequel)

1. Devdutt Pattanaik:

He is an Indian mythologist, speaker and author and mainly writes on Hinduism, sacred lore and fables. He wrote various books in his journey but his one of the most fascinating book is-

This book is unique from the classical Ramayana as the story is written from the perspective of Sita and not Ram. The main personality of this retelling is Sita.

2. Amish Tripathi:

An Indian mythology fiction writer. He is well known for his Shiva Trilogy series which includes three books: The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras.

The Immortal of Meluha was his first book. Don't buy it if you want unbelievable fiction in which lords can fly instead this is based on a man(Shiva) who didn't have any power but with intelligence and skills, he steered to become Mahadev.

3. Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni:

She is an Indian-American author and poet. Her incredible storytelling tone is based on the aspects of strong women which she does in her national best selling book:

A story of narrative, bravery and cost of being royal. This book demonstrates the life of Rani Jindan Kaur (the last shikh queen of Lahore) around the reign of the British and the story inside of the castle which is a sort of mental battle every day.

4. Ashwin Sanghi:

An Indian fiction-thriller writer who is popularly known for his best-selling novels The Rozabal Line, Chanakya's Chant and The Krishna Key.

A political thriller book comprises two parallel tales of different eras. The first story portrayed the character of Chanakya in the making of Chandragupta Emperor and the other of Pandit Gangasagar Mishra(in the modern era) who wanted to make a slum girl a prime minister. Both stories are interwoven in such a beautiful expression and political acuity.

5. Anand Neelakantan

An Indian author, columnist, screenwriter, and public speaker who depicts the story from different characters. Just like an outstanding retelling of Ramayana, in his book

This mythological fiction is written by imposing Ravan as the main character in his storytelling. As well as from the aspect of the asur Bhadra.
